THE DIRECTOR

The subject of this cartoon is a theatre director. He is in his sixties. He founded the Liverpool Everyman theatre in the '60s, before going on to direct theatre productions across the world, namely in the US, Moscow, Berlin, Australia, and Tel Aviv. He was artistic director at the Lyric Hammersmith theatre in London, before becoming the principal of one of London's foremost drama schools, the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). The cartoon also features his wife, Alix, and twin grandchildren with whom he is besotted.
